HALLOWEEN

Halloween is my jam. Especially when i can do couple costumes! This year Shelby and I dressed up as Cookie Monster duo. It was probably one of the easiest costumes ever and turned out SO cute!

Cookie Monster:
+ Blue Dress (Forever 21)
+ Headband
+ Blue Feather Boa
+ Ping Pong Balls
+ Black Construction Paper

The headband was really the only thing I had to assemble. All I had to do was hot glue the feather boa to the headband, and then I cut off whatever remained (FYI you won't need the whole feather boa haha). Then I glued the two ping pong balls to the feather boa. They didn't stay very well so I reinforced them with dental floss and then they stayed in place great!

Cookie:
+ Giant Piece of Cardboard (Shelby went dumpster diving for this piece)
+ Black Construction Paper
+ Suspenders
+ Duct Tape

Shelby's cookie is pretty self explanatory. The only thing we struggled to figure out was how he was going to attach it to himself. He ended up duct taping the back of his cookie to a pair of suspenders and it worked out perfect.

FALL SEMESTER

this semester has been a semester of change.
+ i transferred universities. i moved cities, states, and left all my friends behind. i have had to start completely fresh and it has been HARD.

+ my dad got a job in ROME, ITALY. so while my sister and i are at school, they are living half way across the world. saying i miss them is an understatement. i am especially finding the time change hard. i am counting down the days till i can be with them at christmas!

+ i am conveniently now only thirty minutes away from my shelby boy, which i am loving!

after a semester of semi-long distance and then a summer of FOR REAL long distance...thirty minutes is a dream come true.

change can be hard, and i won't lie, this semester has been EXTREMELY hard for me adjusting to some of these big changes. there have been times where i have just wanted to pack my bags, make my way back to good old rexburg and settle back into my familiar life there. however, change pushes us out of our comfort zones and allows us to grow in ways that we would not be able to if things always remained the same.
thank goodness i have had shelby by my side this semester. he doubles as my best friend/lover and i don't know what i would do without him!

GETTING TO VEGAS

So last week I flew to Vegas to go see my boy Shelby. It has seriously been so tough being apart this summer and we were both SO pumped to be able to see each other and spend a whole week together. I was supposed to fly into Vegas on Monday night and then the next morning we would get up early and drive to St. George with his family. The plan was to spend a couple days hiking and hanging out at Zion's National Park.

My Mom drove me down to the airport and dropped me off around 7pm. I had plenty of time to spare before my flight and then just my luck it was DELAYED. I was disappointed, but not terribly worried. I would still get there in plenty of time. The plane was running late, it finally got there about an hour later and they loaded everyone on. We were on the runway ready to take off and then...WE DIDN'T. The plane did another loop around and tried to take off again, but still...WE DIDN'T. They took the plane back to the terminal and we all sat inside waiting. The captain told us they were having some issues and they were going to try and fix them. They told us to stay put and hopefully the issue would be resolved. We sat on the plane for about 20 minutes.

I started talking to an older lady sitting beside me. She was telling me she was going to surprise her grandson in California. He was in a rodeo that week. I told her I was going to visit my boyfriend in Las Vegas. She asked me how we met and I told her how we started dating at school. She asked me what school I went to and I mentioned that I went to school in Rexburg. At that moment the lady in front of me turned around and said, "I went to school at Rick's too!" She was so nice and I talked to her as well for a couple seconds and then the captain announced they were going to have to DEPLANE! NO!!!!

I got off the plane and the waiting game began...I sat there for about an hour and then I finally called Shelby. I WAS BORED OUTTA MY MIND! It was about 12:30am when they announced that the flight would be cancelled. My heart seriously dropped. I had no where to go. I was stranded in Great Falls by myself, and I was SO upset. AND THE WORST PART: our flight was rescheduled the next day at 5:30pm. I called my Mom crying. The airline offered everyone a free hotel room for the night and a free $100 voucher. I made my way to the front desk and ran into the woman that had told me she had attended Rick's earlier on the plane. She saw me crying and said not to worry she would look after me. Her and her daughter were seriously SO kind to me. Heavenly Father definitely had my back cause they were a huge blessing. They took me to the hotel, the next day they helped me figure out how I was going to get to St. George (it just so happened that that was where they were going). I told Shelby I would just meet him and his family there, so they helped me book the same shuttle as them. The next day they took shopping around Great Falls with them while we waited for our flight! I seriously could not be more grateful for them. They were from Raymond, and we ended up knowing a lot of the same people!

I EVENTUALLY did make it to St. George on Tuesday night. Our flight was delayed AGAIN, and then we had to run like maniac's through the Vegas airport to catch our shuttle but we made it and I finally got to see Shelby...AND WE HAD THE BEST TIME TOGETHER!

GENERAL CONFERENCE

SO here goes this blogging thing again...

A few weeks ago was General Conference and it just so happened to be that MY SISTER WAS SINGING IN THE CHOIR during the Saturday afternoon session. My whole family was way excited that she would have such an amazing opportunity to sing in conference, SOOO they all decided to come down for the Saturday session.
They came down on a Wednesday and stopped in Rexburg to visit before driving the rest of the way down to Salt Lake that night. I was so excited to see them, I had seriously missed them so much! Seeing as it was the week before finals, Lena and I couldn't go down to Salt Lake with them on Wednesday no matter how bad we wanted to... We both just had too much going on with classes and studying, but we drove down late Friday night to meet up with them in Salt Lake.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend both sessions on Saturday. My Mom had three tickets to the morning session and then eight for the afternoon session. Livi, Shelby, and I managed to swipe the morning session tickets and had awesome seats in the conference centre :)
After the morning session we went to meet up with some of my friends from home who also happened to be down for conference weekend. Some of them I hadn't seen since they had left for their missions because I had been at school when they came back. It was so nice to see them!
...AND then I made Livi snap a BILLION pictures of Shelby and I hehe...but I couldn't help it! Temple Square is seriously SOOOOO pretty in the spring.
I MAY or MAY not have lost track of time during all this. I had originally made plans with my Mom to meet the fam outside the conference centre around 1:00...but between meeting up with friends and taking pictures I realized that it was already quarter to 1:00 and we hadn't gone and got lunch yet. I called my Mom and told her we would be a little late and we rushed over to City Creek Mall to grab a quick bite to eat (along with the other 21 000 people planning on going to conference at 2:00 hahaha...whoopsie).
We grabbed something as quickly as we could and started walking back to the conference centre. Finding a spot on temple square, we sat down to quickly eat our food and then basically the plan was to RUN to the conference centre to make it on time.
Livi literally had two bites of food and then she said she felt like she was going to throw up and ran to find somewhere to throw up on Temple Square (AND CAN I JUST SAY THIS IS NO EASY TASK...there is literally no where to throw up). She found a garbage can and Shelby and I finished eating and then went over to check on her when she didn't come back. It was seriously terrible timing. My Mom kept calling because we still weren't over there and Livi wasn't going anywhere at that moment. We found out she was actually choking (I SERIOUSLY WIN FOR WORST SISTER AWARD...) not the kinda choking where you can't breath but the kind of choking where you have something stuck in your throat. We didn't really know what to do. My Dad eventually came over and found us. He gave Shelby and I two tickets and told us to go and took care of poor Livi.
Something always seems to happen to Livi when we go to conference...and one of my parents always misses to take care of her. We were all disappointed they couldn't make it into the session. Especially because Livi ended up being okay, but Lena's choir sang so beautifully and we got to point her out a few times on the screen! (I may have had a few proud sister moments...)
Despite our conference experience being slightly chaotic, I am so grateful I was able to attend with my family. AND I was so proud of my sister!
